BEAST Work Day #3

Here is a round of up last week… plan to meet again on Sat. Dec. 8th @ 9 am

S/E Sector
Approximately 6 volunteers showed up Sat at Doug Featherstone’s barn at 6182 Garvin Road just west of Huntley to continue trail work. Work will continue again this Saturday putting up pickets and re-decking a bridge. Your help is needed! Please meet at 6182 Garvin Road. Even if you are not from the S/E sector and you can spare some time your help is greatly appreciated.

S/W Sector
Our 2nd work day in the South West sector had an overwhelming turnout . We had an unexpected 15 volunteers show up at Jim’s garage located at 1405 7th Line of Beckwith just of HWY 15 so two volunteers where redirected to the North West sector to lend them a hand. 2 crews were split up and succesfully completed the Smiths Falls section which is about 25 kilometres of trail between Franktown and Smiths Falls. This also included the start of a trail re-route which will get us off another water hazard on Main E trail. We still have a good day of cutting to finish this up so we will be looking for a crew to head out again next Saturday. Please arrive at Jim’s Garage at 9:00am.
Volunteers were on hand at Carleton Place Marine and Blacks Corners to help with last minute permit sales.

N/W Sector
The N/W sector also had a great turnout at 1465 Wolf Grove Road with 12 volunteers lending a hand. Volunteers tackled the 202 from both ends but ran out of time and pickets. There are a few fields left to get done on the Carleton Place side. Volunteers negotiated with Bytown Lumber and sucessfully was able to reroute a portion of the 202 off the edge of County Road 29 and Ramsey Concession 8 onto property owned by Bytown Lumber. Clearing and revisions to signage was required for this location. In the afternoon, volunteers cleared the Innisville access trail. On Sunday, two volunteers cleared deadfall from the 306 West Carleton link and put a few finishing touches on the White Lake 308. A small crew will be required Saturday morning to finish up the 202 and any other small areas which required completion. Plan to arrive at 1465 Wolf Grove Road for 9:00am.

N/E Sector
Volunteers working on the A trail between Jock River and TCT. This sector is almost ready for snow and is able to be managed with the current volunteer group. If you can lend a hand, please try and help either the South West or South East sectors.
